Orissa keeps doing something or the other for the people of the entire state of Orissa by bringing new schemes.Odisha CM has launched a new scheme on 28 Nov 2023 named Ama Bank.Ama Bank launched by Chief minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik has been launched in Lok Sabha Bhavan.The Chief Minister said that In the first phase, this banking service will be started for 750 Panchayats and the rest of the Banks will be completed by March 2024.
Why was Ama Bank Scheme started?
There are about 6798 Panchayats in Odisha and among them, 67% of the village Panchayats are not yet provided with banking facilities.And those who have got banking facility, they were facing a lot of difficulty in withdrawing the money received from the DBT system in the bank.Solving the this problem, the CM of Odish has started AMA Bank by collaborating with 6 private banks.The names of all the banks are State Bank, Punjab National Bank, Union Bank, UCO Bank, Bank of India and Bank of Baroda.All these banks will go under the AMA Bank Scheme and provide banking services wherever the Panchayat does not have a bank.
Ama Bank model is a unique model of its own. The model created by the Government of Orissa is unique in the entire country in that it is a different type of bank which leaves its new mark in every Panchayat.

Regarding Ama Bank, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik said that no state has done this befor, but Odisha has started the Scheme ama bank to take forward its financial sector, to develop its economy and to encourage good governance and this is a trend in the entire state and the country.
Orissa’s Financial Minister Vikram Keshari Arukha said that this is a finance transmission of Odisha and it is happening under the leader of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, then it will be the best.
Naveen Odisha and 5T chairman VK Pandian said that it will take 30 years to reach banking facilities to all the Panchayats and we will reach all the Panchayats in whatever days it takes and this is the vision of chief minister of Odisha
KEY POINTS OF AMA BANK:
- Because of Amo Bank, people living in villages and Gram Panchayat can avail the maximum facilities.
- This bank will open in more than 750 Pranchayat and a grant amount of Rs 500 crore has been given for this.
- The point of this is that banking facility has to reach every household.
- In the first page there are 4373 outlets will be open
- Banking facility has been provided in 24 districts of Bhadrak where there was no bank.
- Six banks which are under the amban bank scheme one is Bank of Baroda,State Bank,Punjab National Bank, union bank, UCO Bank,Bank of India

- Under the schemes of Ama Banking, pregnant women, disabled people and those who are unable to go to the bank, under this scheme, any employee of the bank will go to them and help them in withdrawing and depositing their money.
- Those who get monthly pension will also get the facility to withdraw their money from here
- Through the medium of DBT, money is being deposited in everyone’s account and in every account, a check-off print will be available here also.
- Woman’s SHG OR women entrepreneurs who used to go to the bank for their loans and whatever work they have to do, can also get all their work done here.
