The primary aim of the KALIA Scholarship is to provide financial support to the children of beneficiaries under the KALIA scheme pursuing professional or technical courses within the State of Odisha. This initiative strives to enhance access to higher education, particularly benefiting the children of small and marginal farmers (SF/MF), actual cultivators (sharecroppers), and landless agricultural households (LAH). The Kalia Scholarship seeks to empower these families by facilitating better educational opportunities.
Key Features of KALIA Scholarships and Eligible Courses:
The KALIA Scholarship covers professional or technical graduation courses in various disciplines offered by government institutes in the state. The eligible courses include M.B.B.S., BDS, BHMS, BAMS, B.Pharma, B.Sc. (Nursing), PBBSc, B.Sc. (Agriculture), BVSc & AH, B.Sc. (Horticulture), B.Sc. (Forestry), B.Sc. (Fisheries Science), B.Sc. (Community Science), B.Tech. (Agril. Engg), B.Tech/B.E., and similar programs.
Additionally, diploma courses like D. Pharma, DMLT, DMRT, Ophthalmic Assistance/Surgical OPTH Assistance, GNM, ANM, Psychiatric Nursing, Polytechnic, and Agri Polytechnic in government institutes are covered. Various trades in government ITI’s are also included under the KALIA Scholarship scheme.
It’s important to note that the list of eligible courses may be subject to modification based on Government approval.
Eligibility Criteria for the KALIA Scholarship:
- The student’s parent must be an eligible beneficiary under the KALIA scheme, falling under the categories of support to cultivators for cultivation and livelihood support for landless agriculture households.
- The student should have secured admission to a government institution within the state on a merit basis.
- Students admitted on a cost-sharing, self-financing, or NRI basis are not eligible for the scholarship.
- A student already availing of another scholarship must shift to the KALIA Scholarship if they choose to benefit from this scheme, as only one scholarship can be availed of.
- Each student is eligible for the KALIA scholarship for one professional course only, and multiple scholarships for different courses are not allowed.
